Cancer Manual

Cancer Manual ‘So what do I do now?’

Made possible by a huge amount of work between clinical colleagues and patients from the Beacon Centre, Taunton and Somerset NHS plus the Heart Manual Service, NHS Lothian, it is hoped that this inspirational resource will support many cancer patients and their families nationwide and further afield. A recent poster entitled "Applying evidence from cardiac rehabilitation to support cancer patients" demonstrates that early indications suggest that the Cancer Manual has helped alleviate time pressure on staff and reassure and address patient concerns: Cancer Manual.pdfCancer Manual.pdf

Using the best available evidence, the Programme is aimed at patients who have usually completed the treatment phase of their cancer experience, and along with specially trained clinicians are focusing on keeping themselves well and living a healthy lifestyle. It is a flexible resource which can be tailored to the individual's needs with the support of a clinician employing behaviour change techniques.

The collaboration between the two NHS organisations will continue to play a core part in the maintenance, quality, and growth of this evidence based programme and welcome input from others keen to be involved.
